Matlock Angling Club controls a number of stillwaters, varied beats of the River Derwent and a length of the Erewash Canal.
Matlock Angling Club has an active match section at both local and national level, all events are open to all Club anglers.

Tansley Pond is a disused mill pond located at the bottom of Brookfield Industrial Estate. Picturesque and tree lined the pond has a central island and three additional man made islands. The depth of the pond varies from 1’ to 3’6” and has a large variety of coarse fish. There are 25 pegs including well maintained fishing platforms.
Tactics: Float,leger or pole to the far banks, islands or in the margins will catch fish, normal carp methods account for the larger fish.
