Matlock Angling Club controls a number of stillwaters, varied beats of the River Derwent and a length of the Erewash Canal.
Matlock Angling Club has an active match section at both local and national level, all events are open to all Club anglers.

MATCH FIXTURES 2025
2025 will see the return of Monthly club matches held the first Sunday in the month through the summer.
The matches will be 4 hours, £10 pools, draw at 8am fishing 9-1pm. Please come and support these friendly matches.

Matlock Angling Club Match Rules
1. On arrival at his peg, a competitor may plumb for depth, set float, mix ground bait, put keepnet in water and clear his swim of any weed he deems necessary, but not to the inconvenience of other competitors.
2. A fish hooked before the final whistle may be weighed in if landed within 15 minutes of the sounding of the final whistle.
3. Only 1 rod to be used at any one time
4. Fish to be weighed to the dram.
5. Any complaints must be made before the weigh-in.
6. All fish to be kept alive in an adequate keep-net, carp to be in a separate net, and returned carefully to the water immediately after being weighed.
7. Non-competitors are not allowed to fish in the stretch of an authorised match.
8. Competitors are not allowed to change pegs.
9. All species to be weighed-in, except trout.
10. Members who walk about unnecessarily will be disqualified.
11. If a home water is un-fishable on the day of a match the match may be switched to another water. Any pleasure anglers on the alternative water will be pegged round prior to the match. Any subsequent vacant pegs would be made available to pleasure anglers after the commencement of the match.
12. No floating baits to be used.
CLUB MATCHES:
All Club matches are listed on the Match Fixtures page. Draw for pegs 8:00am unless stated otherwise, The draw for all River matches is made at the railway station car park in Matlock opposite Sainsburys. Draws for any matches held on the Ponds will be made at the ponds.
MATCH MANAGEMENT:
1. CLUB MATCHES
To be in accordance with the rules, dates and venues for such matches as printed in the club membership booklet.
2. ANNUAL FUR AND FEATHER MATCH
Is as set out in the club membership booklet. Strictly members only to fish this match. Strictly all monies to be in the hands of the Match Secretary 1 week prior to the date of the match. No exceptions will be made to this rule whatsoever.
3. VENUES FOR AND BOOKING OF MATCHES
a) All matches to have the date and venue approved by the directors before taking place and to be listed in the club membership booklet.
b) Pegging fees to be paid on all matches except with prior approval of the directors.
4. PROVISION FOR MATLOCK ANGLING CLUB MEMBERS
When matches are pegged at both Matlock and Matlock Bath a stretch of the Matlock waters must be left open for non participating club members, except on the day of the Annual Fur and Feather Match
