Matlock Angling Club controls a number of stillwaters, varied beats of the River Derwent and a length of the Erewash Canal.
Matlock Angling Club has an active match section at both local and national level, all events are open to all Club anglers.

The club has joined Belper AC to obtain fishing on the Erewash Canal from Langley Mill Lock to Shipley Lock. This water is a mixed fishery containing pike into double figures, some carp and silver fish.
Pike anglers should fish with wire traces, 12lb+ line, a large landing net and a suitable unhooking mat. Please take care with pike they are a delicate species.
Tactics: Pole for the silvers, chopped worm down the edge for quality perch, lures and small dead for the pike.
